Friday January 4
Fayetteville
started off with an all new contest for the CFP tour to get the
Monsters warmed up, and that was a wheelie contest. Hands down
the winner was declared as the crazy man himself, Rob French in
Monster Corvette.
Qualifying was close with all 5 competitors running times all less
than a quarter (.25) seconds from another, with Rick Long in Bigfoot
taking the Quick Qualifier spot with a 2.63 second pass.
Catastrophe struck Mark Foulk and Bulletproof as he launched off the
second ramp in Qualifying high and fast, panicked being a rookie
driver, and locked up the brakes in midair. The truck slammed
down and ripped the front end
including all links, shocks, drive shaft, as well as breaking the
transfer case and put a hole in the oil pan. Bulletproof was
done for the night. Mark Foulk's teammate and boss Rob French
worked his way though Racing to the Finals, only to meet veteran
racer Rick Long. The race was close, but it was the King of
the Monster Trucks taking the Racing win.
Freestyle was good, too, as
the two from the Racing Finals squared off in what would be a grudge
match. Both Bigfoot and Monster Corvette were scored perfect
30s, but a cheer off found Rick Long and Bigfoot to be the overall
winner for the night in Freestyle.

Saturday January 5
The Wildfire
Motorsports team thrashed and thrashed nearly all night long (they
did take a 2 hour break for some much needed rest) after having
ripped the front end clear out of the truck the night before, in
time for all of Saturday night's festivities. Saturday night
would start again with the wheelie competition, which went much the
same way it did on Friday night. Rob French won in Monster
Corvette, while teammate Mark Foulk experienced RII problems in
Bulletproof and would be out for the night despite having the truck
physically back together.
Qualifying and
Racing was also much like the night before; Bigfoot was the leader
of the pack with a 2.34 second pass. In the first round
Monster Corvette defeated Shockwave, and Bigfoot beat Clydesdale in
a photo finish. Clydesdale then beat Shockwave for 3rd place.
The Finals was also just like the night before, and the outcome was
the same - Rick Long and Bigfoot took yet another win in the 2008
Monster Truck Winter Nationals Points Series and tour.
Continuing
their bad weekend the Wildfire Motorsports team would have to sit
out Freestyle all together as Rob French blew a hole in the
transmission pan and would not be able to Freestyle. Down to 3
trucks for Freestyle, those competitors knew they would have to
carry themselves that much more. The scores show how much they
stepped up to the plate; Bigfoot scored a 30 - Shockwave scored a 26
- and Clydesdale also scored a 26 for a 2nd place tie!
